Thimios Floros, 44, from Larissa, Greece is the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the company “FLOROS BROS SA”. This family – owned company has been active in the field of recycling for about 40 years. The man who inspired this business plan was Mr. Andreas Floros, father of the Company’s shareholders.
“When I was a little child, my father was gathering stuff for recycling with a sack on his shoulders. The previous decades, people gave all their useless stuff to junk dealers. My family had the idea to separate all the different kind of metals we found and recycle them. He and my mother, Maria, were crossing around Europe and they were looking for antiques, jars, jukeboxes etc, which were sold to many rich families of Kolonaki, Kifisia, Ekali in Athens and Larissa. So, everything began with the trade of antiques and other valuable stuff. My parents managed to gain people’s trust.”
FLOROS BROS developed a dynamic course over the years, which is reflected not only in the financial statements, but also in its continuous and consistent presence in the local community. The company has multiple actions alongside its purely professional orientation. All the systematic work ranked the FLOROS BROS company (in 2011), among the 50 fastest growing businesses in Greece.
The main activities of the company at the moment are briefly the following:
- Trade of antiques
- Pumps
- Paper and plastic recycling
- Trade of wood, steel, construction materials, spare parts
- Car sales
- Trade of liquid fuels
“I have been working, since I remember myself. My parents took us with them, even if they were working. I remember my mother working in the fields and at the same time she was cooking for us! My parents taught us to work a lot with a strong willing.”
“In 2002 because of the great car withdrawal, the company was developed and expanded. We succeeded in business due to our way of working. Our main target is to fight against unemployment. We want to have jobs, to offer jobs to people who want to, regardless their identity. We occupied up to 120 people and some of them are Roma. I have a vision for roma families to combat the internal migration, to have a permanent job and leave in a permanent location”.
