Summer camp was attended by 55 children, of which 50% was Roma children. Over the period of these camps has not been ever such an interest as this year and we had to increase the accommodation capacity using several tents. High interest in the camp has apparently caused an unsuccessful two-year measures by the social authorities about the holiday stay of children from an orphanage in their own families. It has been found that children – mostly the Roma children- were spending these summer holidays closed with families in inadequate environments (different types of hostels, social housing, etc.) in most cases, with the other five to seven siblings, without any care and activities. This year, most children homes abandon this “summer holiday program” for children and allow them to visit our camp, where they have a lot of fun and several experts attend to them during all stay.
Most of the children homes was full during the summer this year again. It sounds sad but it is better for most of the children.
