SAVE THE DATE: Discover what it means to be Roma in the EU today

The plight of many Roma across the EU will be documented in the survey findings that will be presented by the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights at the European Roma Platform meeting on 29 November in Brussels.

The Fundamental Rights Agency will present selected findings from its second EU minorities and discrimination survey. They are drawn from interviews with nearly 8,000 Roma representing almost 34,000 family members in nine EU Member States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Spain). They capture the first hand experiences these Roma face in their daily lives, showing just how far Roma integration still lags behind the targets set by the EU and Member States.

The survey results include findings on poverty, housing, employment, education, healthcare, discrimination and rights awareness. They are the evidence base that can help policy makers design more effective actions for accelerating the process to meet Roma integration targets, which are a key element of the EU’s 2011 National Roma Integration Strategies Framework.

The findings will be presented on 29 November at the European Roma Platform meeting in Brussels. The report will be published on FRA’s website the same day.
