PAL Project and It is not too Late Conference and Campaign presented to local stakeholders

Venue: Culturale Space Rampa Prenestina at Di Vittorio-Lattanzio school

 Rome (Italy)
Date: 03 December 2016

On 03 December 2016 Consorzio Innopolis staff attended the presentation of an inquiry about the situation of Roma minors in Italian judicial system (inquiry is called Le catene dell’esclusione, that means Chains of exclusion). After speaking on inquiry, a cultural association called New Romalen was presented. New Romalen was founded by four Roma youngsters who work in the field of cultural mediation and Roma inclusion in the social life.

Innopolis staff took also the opportunity to present PAL project in general and It is not too Late Conference and Awareness Raising Campaign in particular to attendants (about 40 people: Roma families and children; musicians and artists; cultural mediators and social workers; teachers). Location was an ideal environment to address the issue of school inclusion of Roma people: it was at a school (IT IS Di Vittorio-Lattanzio), in the popular and multi-ethnic neighborhood Prenestino. Furthermore this school hosts Amarò Foro activities, a project aimed to 30 Roma children aged between 7 and 11 years with the aim of fostering their social inclusion and citizenship by means of artistic activities (Consorzio Innopolis pointed out this project as best practice at local level).

Attendants express their interest in PAL project. Innopolis staff explained the main points of PAL (research, training, awareness raising activities) and the strength of partnership, with 20 partners coming from 9 different countries. It is not too Late Campaign and Praha Conference were presented too by Innopolis staff (Valentina Rossi e Gabriele Levi). Conference was described as the best opportunity to involve experts across the Europe and share best practices collected at local level, in order to build a common space of knowledge and experience. An opportunity to share at EU level all the best initiatives taken at local level to foster school inclusion of Roma children and evaluate their replicability and trasferibility and to contribute to orient public policies towards a more effective integration. It was explained also Campaign’s aim, timeframe and activities: number of outputs (press releases, videos, leaflets shared etc), target and audience.
