“EMPLOY ME” INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Diepenbeek, April 4th – 5th 2017.

The awareness raising event “Employ me!” will be organized next  4th and 5th of April 2017 in Diepenbeek, Belgium. Some of the topics will be: Employment rights for Romani people, Employment and economic alternatives for Roma in EU, Social entrepreneurship, IT sector for economic alternatives for Roma, Microcredit and other experiences of Roma support centers.

TRAINING OF TRAINERS IN ITALY

24th and 28th February. Treviso, Italy. Training of trainers implemented in Treviso, addressed to professionals dealing with social and school inclusion of Roma people. 20 participants attended each meeting. Following a participatory approach, the following topics have been deepened: Formulation of thematic and personal plans; Methods for use in monitoring children development; Significance of play and learning in pre-school level; Strategies for effective communication with families; Legal protection of children; Learning problems social, emotional and behavior problems; Training of Roma partners and families.

THE IMAGE OF THE ROMA IN ART HISTORY

An exciting international conference, will be held in Budapest, Hungary on 3-4 April.

It aims at discussing the image of the Roma in the history of art, in order to yield an overview from the earliest identified depiction of the Roma to the twentieth century. The panels of the conference on the 19th and 20th century put a special emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe.

The conference is organised by the Goethe-Institut Budapest, the Visual Art Section of RomArchive – Digital Archive of the Roma, the Research Group of Critical Theories at the Institute of Art History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the European Roma Cultural Foundation.

INFORMATION DAY AND ROUND TABLE ON THE SOCIAL ECONOMY OF ROMA IN BELGIUM

3rd March 2017. SRDA participated in the ‘Information Day and Round Table on the Social Economy of Roma in Belgium’ event held in Brussels, hosted by ERIO (European Roma Information Office) with the purpose of presenting the SerCo project (Social Entrepreneurship for Roma Communities) and explore the topic of Social Economy for Roma people in Belgium.

The SerCo Project is a project financed by the European Union under the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme to address the problem of social and economic inclusion of Roma communities in the member states. This two-year project is a partnership of eight partners covering six European countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania and Spain. The project’s main objective is to streamline Roma social entrepreneurship creation in the National Roma Integration Strategies, as recommended by the European Commission.

EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP & REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON ROMA ISSUES IN THESSALONIKI

An experiential – interactive type Workshop entitled “Diversity as a source of knowledge” will be held on March 30 in Thessaloniki, to strengthen coexistence and acceptance between Roma communities and non-Roma, through the creation of communication channels and the exchange of good practices.

In addition, a Regional Conference for the social inclusion of Roma will take place on Friday March 31 in Thessaloniki. Both  actions are part of the project «Development of the National Roma Platform for consultation and dialogue exchange of the Greek NRCP», implemented by the National Centre for Social solidarity with EU co-financing (program “Rights, Equality and Citizenship 2014-2020”).
