Mircea Bujor has come to sell cucumbers from his own production in the country’s big hypermarket chains. His business is family-run.

While in most of the country’s markets, domestic producers complain about the speculation practiced by Roma samsars, the citizen of Teleorman proves that it can be otherwise.
Mircea Bujor sells cucumbers from his own production in the major hypermarkets in the country, being one of the Romanian producers included in the National Program “Taste of taste”.
The Dracea producer keeps saying he is “gypsy”. “This is a family business. We are about 11 people involved. Me, my brother, my boys and other relatives. I have been a vegetable grower since I was 13 years old. My boys, who are 15, 16 and 17 years old, respectively, help me. I’m proud to be rum. I have encountered problems in time because of the mentality, because you are effectively put aside if you are a Gypsy, “says Mircea Bujor.
He has been dealing with agriculture since childhood. After making eight classes, he dropped out of school and preferred to work with his parents in agriculture. “It all started in 1992. Finish the eighth grade, and there was not much to do at the time. Land was rented by the mayoralties. If we were Roma, we did not have inherited land. We rented from the town hall and we were going very well. I was going to Bucharest and selling. I remember having a car in 1992, “says the producer.
Over time, dedicating himself to the whole family of agricultural work, Mircea Bujor’s business has grown. The producer finished high school when he realized that the studies were not neglected.
The land in the property has spread to up to 20 hectares, and in addition to field work, the farmer has also made broth and canning, setting up Dracea a small piece of wood.
Vegetables intended for hypermarkets must meet certain requirements imposed by the buyer, and for this the whole family Bujor works hard, ranging from cucumber planting to sunshine, to arranging in the boxes that take the road to the hypermarket. When the cucumbers are sorted and placed in the boxes bearing the “Missing taste” program, the children of the producer take part in the work.
Rom vegetable grower says that he intends to access European funds in the future in order to develop his business. It will go further with the “Missing Taste” Program, which has already announced the intention to associate other producers.
Mircea Bujor dreams that one day his broth, which he claims to be 100% natural, will reach the shelves of Cora or Selgros. He sells it in small shops in the county for the time being. “It’s two dollars a jar and it’s 100% natural,” says the manufacturer.
Asked if agriculture could be a profitable business in Romania, for a small entrepreneur, Mircea Bujor admits: “For twenty years we have been living in agriculture. Of course it is worth it
