For four generations, a 114-year-old guitar is passed from father to son, along with the passion for music and the pride of Sinti’s own traditions.

Ighlif Triberti – Il Gitano has transformed the passion of his family into a reditance activity that, in addition to guaranteeing an economic entrance, allows to live the gitane’s musical culture between Sinti and Gagi.

Ighlif Triberti was born into a Sinti family of circus performers. First of nine children, at home, breathes the passion for music and guitar, transmitted in his generation-to-generation family. He plays the first notes on a guitar belonging to the
Grandfather and his father teach him to play and sing. This symbol of the musical Sinti’s colture, all the family tattooed this old 114 year old guitar on the arm as a sign of belonging to a culture.

As a child he works in the family circus as a clown and runs Italy performing in many squares.

Music is always his great passion even if for a long time it is not a real job.

His main activity as an adult is to manage a stable playground in the province of Modena where he has inflatable games and banquets of sweets. This is also the typical activity of the Sinti that gives work to all his family.

Meanwhile, he continues to play guitar, for friends and parties. Sometimes it also appears in some local television programs or in some public events, and on one of these occasions that in 2015 a publishing house discovers it and proposes to regularize its musician activity.

This is the beginning of the new Ighlif’s musical career, signing contracts with two publishing houses:
Musicals Caramba from Milano and Ardiente Musicali Editions from Modena.
A year and a half ago, Triberti joined the Siae (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers), where he deposited his lyrics and music.

After that, in a recording studio in Modena, he realizes her great dream, that is to record the first album: Ighlif Triberti – Il Gitano.

After the release of his first album, there were many opportunities to get acquainted at various venues and perform music in various Italian cities for a public of Sinti and Gagi.
There have also appeared appearances on television, local and national networks have invited him to introduce his story and his music.

In recent times, some health problems have led him to a reduction in public commitments, although Ighlif continues to play in public with his guitar convinced that this way he can keep alive a culture that he belongs to. It keeps young Sinti anchored to traditions and values that are increasingly risking to lose themselves, keeping alive a story, a tradition, a language. It makes known to the Gagi a beautiful and fascinating Sinti’s tradition.
