The overall aim of the activity is to present and share Romani Role models from 9 European countries , their expereince and difficulties faced. Within the platform are presented 45 real presentations, collected by national experts implementing the PAL Project, with information gathered from various sources which are handled with care. These stories show that Roma people have many resources and abilities that combined with motivation can be factors of change at local, national or international level.
The success stories selected in PAL Project can answer the question: Can someone’s success be considered an alternative to succeed in his own life, can he be a way to go? A general rule that is learned during childhood shows us that we can avoid future failures if we know them beforehand. The stories presented are intended to motivate a category of people who encounter difficulties in the educational process and on the labor market. The presented experts have also encountered the same types of problems that are found in the context of education and access to the labor market. Discrimination by teachers or colleagues makes it difficult to obtain school results for a Roma pupil or student, and this contributes to the formation of a negative image about one’s own person and also demotivation.
Stories present situations that have occurred in some people’s lives that have been overcome by using human skills as: manual skills, intellectual capabilities, family and group support, physical effort provision, informal education centered on success, etc.
The people presented have been willing to tell their stories in the hope that those who know them will realize that life experiences can have a positive effect.
